Doctor search

It is very important to pick a doctor, stick with them and have your kids stick with them.  The reality…this doesn’t happen.  There are many reasons why!  How can I convince you to try?

I will lay out a good argument. Here it is:

You will be happier, healthier, have lower health costs, be able to make goals and achieve them, get answers to your questions at a reasonable time and have it be applicable to your health.

So where to start?

Do you have goals for your health? Short term, long term? If so, write them down.  If not, make some and write them down.

Once your goals are in front of you ask yourself this question: Can my doctor help me with these goals or are they something I need to work on alone? Secondly, if a doctor could help but not the doctor you see now…it’s time to start investigation and asking around for a primary care doctor to be your doctor.

Things to look for in your doctor: Do they practice prevention or treatment styles that match your beliefs? Do they have the hours you are looking for?  Is the location good? Do you like the ambiance of clinic? Are the staff friendly? Will your doctor be around for a long time to take care of you?  Will you afford care there?

With all the health care changes in America we are all on this crumbly rock of uncertainty.

My health care model in my clinic is patient centered.  Because I am not contracted with any third party insurance company I am able to have lower costs and great patient doctor relationships.  When patients come into our office they know how much it will be for their visit and it is paid before they leave.  This means no surprise bill in the mail later on and no fighting about cost and services etc. This is how health care should be.

Know your goals, write them down, interview and find the right primary care doctor and stick to them for a long time.  You will be healthier because of it.
